I remember during the COVID-planned demic, Democrats enacted Obamacare subsidies, and they called them emergency. So what government called generosity, the public experiences an upgrade in lifestyle. When the pre-COVID baseline was about to be restored, the reaction was not gratitude for the windfall, but outrage at its removal.
