There was no homelessness when I was growing up in East Wenatchee, Washington. As I was coming of age, the tax code changed, sucking twice the amount from working class Americans. Democrat President Johnson and his Democrat House and Senate promised Americans that their war on poverty tax increases would end poverty. Ha! It was a war on earners. 
In 1970, the poverty rate was 12.6. It never got below 11 until Trump 45 lowered it to 10.5. Then Trump 47 lowered it to 10.2 percent. 
Before Democrats raised taxes, most families could and did live comfortably on one income, as did my family of five. My father had a 10th grade education, yet we lived in a five-bedroom, two-bath home with a swimming pool.
